The Best Apple MacBook Laptop

Buying a Apple MacBook isn’t a particularly easy task, given the multiple updates, various stand-alone models get; from simple inclusion of touch panels to increments in RAM, to increments in screen size…

You might decide to go for something affordable, but Apple has never really been an ‘affordability’ minded company per se, in the sense that optimum performance is at the forefront of the company’s agenda.

Then you might decide to go for the very best. But even that itself is tricky. The MacBook laptops are very powerful in a particular way, in the sense that, they interact with Apple’s custom OS perfectly well; but when viewed as stand alone features, the flaws come out of hiding.

How does one decide the best MacBook laptop to buy?

First and foremost, you must understand the three main brands in the MacBook family.
The MacBook family consists of three separate brands : The MacBook, the MacBook Air, and the MacBook Pro.

The MacBook book Air features the cheapest variant in the MacBook family, as the line was designed with a degree of affordability (some products at least) in mind.

The Mac book pro features the most powerful variant in the MacBook universe, as the line packs the most powerful laptops in the family.

Finally, ‘the MacBook’ seems like a sort of mid-ranger.
The MacBooks are designed to fit specific needs. So, it’s important to identify your needs, and decide which of the MacBook laptops suits them best.

This is very important, given that upgrading MacBook laptops after initial purchase is tricky, if not, impossible.

Here are the very best MacBook laptops

The 12 Inch MacBook

MacBook 12

At first glance, the slimer, lighter and more portable 12 inch MacBook, looks better than its predecessors, with it’s fanless and water thin enchanting design… But on a closer look, the flaws come out.
The MacBook 12 was initially released with the powerful intel Core M processor.

But the issue here, is that Core M was designed for extremely thin systems, so it’s much slower on the ‘still thin, but obviously not thin enough’ MacBook 12.

Apple has released various, updated, distinctly priced models, with varying processors (The Core m3, the core i5 and the core i7) for faster performance.

The variant with the Core m3 looks promising but it’s still not up to par with the very best today.
The best thing about the MacBook 12 is it’s portable size, which in turn makes for a smaller battery.
If you want a MacBook that’s really portable, the MacBook 12 is for you.

The new MacBook Air

In 2018, Apple upgraded the MacBook Air line up with a 13 inch retina model. It’s familiar thin and light design is refreshing.

It also features the controversial butterfly keyboard, USB-C ports, and larger trackpad.

It’s modern screen to screen display features a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 (Not the best, but still good enough).

On the inside, it features the newer 8th generation 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 Y-series processor, and Turbo Boost of up to 3.6GHz (Not really super fast, but still powerful enough.)

The new MacBook Air is not as slim as the MacBook 12, but is slimmer than the MacBook Pro.
The MacBook Air laptops are obviously intended as entry level Apple laptops.

For buyers not too keen on processing power, the different models of the MacBook Air are absolutely perfect.

The MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro laptops are the most powerful laptops in the Apple MacBook family.

But how powerful are they?

A lower unit features only two thunderbolt 3 ports (allows connection of up to six peripherals) and a processor not much better than those on the MacBook Air and MacBook siblings.

A higher more expensive MacBook Pro model features a quad core processor, extra thunderbolt 3 ports and a touch bar (a row of soft keys at the top of keyboard).

But if you want the best of the best, then the 15 inch models are what you need.

There is a model with an incredible 6 core processor with the option of a Verge 20 card on the high end configuration.

A day earlier, an even more powerful model of the 15 incher was released, running on a humongous 8 core processor, that apple promises is two times faster than its predecessor.

{Note : No MacBook laptop features an interactive touch screen as Apple views that feature as experimental and impractical.

What you get is a touch bar at the top of the keyboard that changes its options to reflect your onscreen activity.}

Conclusion

If you want a not too pricey MacBook, there is a 2018 MacBook Air perfect for you.

If you need something portable, get the MacBook.

While, if you want the very best MacBook, go for the latest MacBook Pro and leave the other distracting models.

Pricing

The variants of the three MacBook laptop brands range from 300, 000 Naira to 2,000,000 Naira on Jumia
